The mistress now has a girlfriend!

While on travel for work, I got bored and spent some time looking on the internet for a new girlfriend to play with. Actually, I have been looking for the last couple of years and as we all know, nothing good can come from that. With the exception that the wife was in full support!

Well, after looking all over the US, I found a dealer in Phoenix that was offering a new 2013 C6 Corvette for a ridiculous price as they needed space for the new C7's that are due in any time. Well, one thing lead to another and I caught a flight and last Saturday I picked her up. It was a 1300 mile drive home that was pure bliss! Got to run the road where the Nevada Silver Mile is run (not a speed) but needless to say, that would be a blast to run. The good thing is that the performance, speed, horsepower and ride are nothing like the 986, but together they compliment each other.

Gotta put a picture of the 986 as this is a Porsche site!

Well you have some pretty silver ladies at your place don't you. I suggest plastidiping those chrome rims vintage gold and posting the pics to the platidiped thread.

Side note is it stick or auto?

I've always hated (respected, but hated) Corvettes. Mostly due to jealousy :P

Let us know how she compares to the nimble girl we know and love.

I was just reading the R&T article about the new Corvette which gave it high praise. I have always found the Corvette interesting but have never had a strong desire for one. Maybe a mid 60's one but not one of the newer versions. Who knows though, 2014 has piqued my curiosity. Great looking 2013 Eric. I too would be interested in more comparisons/observations you might have.

I will say they are like night and day...but I still love the 986. Where the vette is rock solid on the road and you don't feel the bumps, the 986 is rock solid but with a new suspension you know where the bumps are.

Horsepower is no comparison but than again, the Boxster is not about 1/4 mile times. Through the same set of twisties the 986 is more nimble and in touch with the road. The vette just seems like riding in a jet fighter and it blasts through without corners without even a slight bit of roll.

I think for me, the biggest difference is one is a true convertible and the other is an open top. For the wind in your hair, open to the road (like a motorcycle) the Boxster wins hands down. For taking the wife on a long road trip the vette wins. In short the cars are equal opposites that still make driving fun, just in different ways.

The biggest thing for me was I had not graced the door or driven one in 32 years. It was a dream I simply never gave myself permission to chase. Silly, but it was one of those mind traps you set and than live with.

Thanks Eric. I kind of figured that would be the answer. I particularly liked the end comment, I know that thought process well

If the 2.5 lets go...that is going to be the plan. Renegade Motorsport in Vegas has the kit and its not a bad price. Now they did theirs for the S model but I have heard it should work for the non S. Dropping 430 hp into her would be a kick in the shorts!

I have got to agree! I sit here almost hoping for an IMS problem!(Not really, but it is always nice to have options) Gee honey, our engine just imploded, I guess we have to go buy a 500+ HP engine

I've been looking at corvettes as well. If you don't mind, what dealership did you do through?

Great job Eric! You have just entered the realm of "the LOVE of cars."

I have had the dual Box/Vette combo since 2006. Hit me up with any questions about the c6 you like, but you are spot on with your write ups so far.
