I understand... the red paint on my S looks fine, it's just the clear coat that's screwed up from the previous owner or shop being messy when bleeding the brakes. I used the 3G, or whatever it is, caliper paint on my Honduh daily driver about six years ago and the paint still looks perfect today, no clear coat. Unless you can find a caliper heat friendly clear coat I would understand skipping that step.
