Painted brake calipers

Finally I was able to paint my brake calipers. I painted them yellow because that maches the car. I also decided to use Brembo stickers instead of Porsche. I used G2 kit and I did not use clear coat over the stickers. More pics on my blog @ myspace.

They are BSA 215, got them from Ebay.

Very nice! I like it. I hadn't thought of doing a Brembo sticker like that. My calipers are currently the only thing on the outside of my car that says "Porsche". I'm sure I'll have to repaint them sometime in the future and when I do I think I'll do a Brembo sticker like this.

Love the yellow ;)

of course, I might be a little biased ...

Hi, very nice job with the yellow calipers, I would recommend 2 coats of clear coat.

1- Easier to clean off that brake dust.

2- Protects the brembo stickers and paint.

3- Just my 2 cents :D

very nice, went with the same combo a while ago.
brembo decals look so much nicer than the puny little thin porsche ones.

I decided against clear coat. Stickers are cheap and I have 2 extras already. My old clear coat looked fu***d and that was the second reason for painting them. I did not feel like taking that risk.:)

Thanks anyway.

I understand... the red paint on my S looks fine, it's just the clear coat that's screwed up from the previous owner or shop being messy when bleeding the brakes. I used the 3G, or whatever it is, caliper paint on my Honduh daily driver about six years ago and the paint still looks perfect today, no clear coat. Unless you can find a caliper heat friendly clear coat I would understand skipping that step.

Yeah, I was reading through several forums and a lot of people had their clear coat cracked. My own looked awful, that kind of sealed it.:D

Very nice job! Did you remove them to paint them, or leave them on the car?

I left mine on and wish I'd removed them now... it's so easy to do if your top bolts aren't rusty at the tips, requiring five hours to remove them and inserts to be put in so as to get them back on securely (which is what happened when I finally removed my calipers to swap the disks out.

I did NOT remove them. If I would have done that, I could have done this 6 months ago. Temp range for this paint is 56-70F and in Las Vegas I had to wait a little while after I bought this paint in April...

Not that cool here in the summer...
