2010 Porsche Panamera...god save the queen
I personally dont like the idea of a 4 door sedan coming from porsche but what the hey, guess I'll give it a chance like i did the Cayenne.
Heres a berief talk-about from my AutoWeek:
The Panamera initially will be offered in a rear wheel drive form only. However, a four wheel drive option featuring a modified haldex-style multi-plate clutch from teh 911 turbo (rather than the older setup, which continues to be used on the 911 Carrera 4) is expected within the first 12 months of the production.
Under the hood sits a 4.8 liter version of Porshes four-valve-per-cyclindar, 90 degree, v8, as unveiled in the facelifted Cayenne earlier this year, The longitudinally mounted unit uses a new direct-injection system plis the lastest in exhuast-gas recirculation and cyclinder-deactivation technology to ensure competitive fuel mileage and emissions, while serving up the needed power and torque to challenge competitors.
Nothing is official yet, but minor adjustments should allow ouput to riseslightly above that of the recently introduced Cayenne, with a naturally aspirated Panamera S versions starting at 400 hp, while the top-of-the-line Panamera Turbo should hit 520 hp-the latter backed up by a prodigious 516 lb-ft of torque. With stadnard rear-wheel-drive versions of the new car said to weigh 4100 pounds, this should ensure 0-to-60-mph acceleration in about 4.5 seconds and, with new advanced aerodynamics, a top speed in excess of 180 mph.
Below are some pictures i snapped of the article with my phone (reason for bad quality)

Those are still artist renditions... closest thing you can find of the real thing are crappy spy shots right now.

Those look like the same artists renditions they have had for months. One of them is even of what they think the 2-door 928 would look like with an updated look. They won't have a 2-door Panamera, atleast to start. From what spy shots have shown, the rear end should have a big spoiler that raises too. Porsche never unveils a new model in a magazine first. An autoshow and their webpage would have it first. Does it say anywhere in that artical that these are actual photos?

looks like a big Lexus...not impressed.
I like the concept of a foh doh Porsha very much in the same vein as Ferrari making the Maserati Quattroporte, which is one of the few four doors I like enough to want to drive some day. A feeling I have never had with a four door Merc, Bmw , Jag, or Plexus.
It would be wise for Por-sch-e to distance themselves from those and align themselves with the Maseratis and Astons and Bentleys on an image basis for a Grand Sedan. They are in a unique position to be able to do it (along with their $130k SUVS)..

For every subsequent model since the 356, Porsche lovers have cried foul. First the "heavy, expensive 6 cyl 911", then the 914, then the 924/44/68 series cars, then the 928, then the Cayenne. Perhaps only the Boxster, in show car form, was the least derided "future porsche" that comes to mind.
I am sure it will be a fantastic car, as were the 928, Cayenne, Boxster, 944Turbos/968 etc. However, to many, it simply doesn't fit their definition of what Porsche is.
If it keeps Porsche profitable, and independant (or ablue to control companies like VW) I am for it. With the caveat that I wish they would kick ass again in OVERALL race cars like P1, F1. Yes the countless GT class wins are nice, but the golden age of Piech is missed sorely by me.

it's sooo true. I can think of no other following where there is so much sniping between car model owners. 993 guys hate the 996, 996 guys think the 997 is allot more money for a marginal gain, the Carrera GT guys thought the 996 was the poor man's porsche (my favorite forum post), the 996 and Boxster guys thought the Cayenne was blashphemy, the 996 guys think the CaymanS is stupid, 996 GT2/3 guys think the Cayman is a god send and demmand an RS, the 928 guys think all other Porsches are dumb, the 944 guys are too busy fixing their cars to post on forums.....

I really like the idea. I am married with no kids, but one day I would like to have a Porsche that I can actually put stuff in the back like friends. I didn't think I would like the Cayenne, but you have to drive one to appreciate it. I loved the handling and acceleration. Once I outgrow the Boxster I am looking at a used M5 or Merc because they are the only ones that make a true 4 seat car. I support the move. Now, if they can just come out with a removable bike rack that doesn't cost as much as stem cell research...
In my humble opinion, I would love to see Porsche have all models so an individual could stay in the Porsche family. My garage would have a Boxster S, a Cayenne and a Panamera. They do need to stop short of a mini van though.
Let the tongue lashing begin...

ROFLMAO!!! That's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.
I haven't owned a Porsche for very long (always wanted one though), but I have no ill feellings for any other Porsche out there. I think they are all cool in their own way, even the Cayenne. The idea that a Porsche owner could hate on another Porsche owner because of the type of Porsche they drive is ludicris. I shake my head and wonder why.
In my heart of hearts I do think Porsches should all be sports cars, but Porsche is a company and making money is important. So if they have to make an SUV and a sedan to stay competitve, then I won't fault Porsche for that.
On that note PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A MINI-VAN!!!

I think Porsche should change the name from Panamera to FuglyStationWagonmera. . Kudos to Porsche, for hiring design engineers from Kia.
