Wiring harness in an 01 base

I’m rebuilding a 2001 base Boxster that caught fire. I purchased a used front and rear harness and installed them. Turned out the harness was from a 1999 base boxster. Does anyone know the difference between the two? Overall, will the 99 work in my 01 ? As per my diagram the 99 came out of a 2.5 and my 01 has a 2.7 in it. Both are tiptronic (automatics).

Hi Andre, there's a few major problems with that. The 1999 and earlier cars:
  • Use a different DME (Engine control module) with a very different connector.
  • Have a cable throttle where the later cars are electronic.
  • Do not have the 'Resonance Flapper Valve' on the intake that the later cars have.

I think you'll need a harness from a 2000 or 2001 Tiptronic. A 2002 should work, but will need a slight modification for the temp sensor. 2003 and 2004 have a different DME and will need more modification. Pretty sure it can be from either a 2.7L or 3.2L. I don't have any Tiptronic harnesses available.

Wiring harness

I have found quite a few different wire pin locations in the 01 that is not on the 99. I was just hoping I could modify it to work. I’ll start looking for a complete 01 tiptronic harness. Thanks for the reply.
