Can I manually position rear spoiler permanently?

Just got a 99 Boxter today. Spoiler dash light is on. Spoiler appears to be down. Can I manually leave it up all the time? If so, is this safe for handling, safety? Will light go off if I do this? Thx.

A liile different circumstance. My rear spoiler with John Toth ducktail is pinned to the up position. I removed the motor and transmission assembly so I can only move it up and down manually. Can't conceive any way leaving it up would be unsafe; you'll have a bit more drag until you reach the speed where it would have raised automatically. My light comes on when the circuit senses the spoiler didn't properly raise because I don't have any switches to tell the circuit where the spoiler is. The light resets when I turn the vehicle off and I'll disable the light when I can get my hands on a Durameteric.

You could raise it and pull the fuse, it probably won't hurt anything except your mileage. It's not designed to be up below 50mph. The light is a different story.

You can easily get rid of the light by adding a small wire in the connector for the spoiler

FIFY it comes up at 75, not 50

I know. It was designed to raise at 75mph and lower at 50mph.

Thanks for the info and good pic Robert; I'll give that a try.
