I do about 500 to 1500 Kilometers on mine per year then I store it and take it to the dealer in the spring, they do a checkup of the car change the oil and then I'm good to go.

I don't understand all of this in detail, but it's my understanding that motor oil, as the car is driven, develops acids and other baddies that are less than ideal for allowing to sit over the course of the winter. If you're changing your oil on a 3-5k miles regular basis, the effect may be pretty slight. Again, I don't know for sure. But, on recommendations that have come from this forum, I have started changing the oil just before putting her to bed for the winter. FWIW.

Thank guys for all your thoughts.....yes its the reintroduction of acids into the oil that was on my mind. Usually, I put in fresh oil drive a short distance and then shut it down. This time I am stuck.
