No, but more steps should take place for winterizing the P car.

It's better than putting in storage with old oil, but not as good as putting it in storage immediately after the oil change. If you can't change the oil where it's stored, then it's the best option you have. :cheers:

Since my opinion is that you would need to start and run it immediately after change to purge the Dirty/contaminated oil from the engine passages, bearings etc. anyway, No Harm No Foul.

I've been doing UOAs and winter storage of Porsches for over 13 years. Some years the oil has as little as 200-300 miles on it at shut-down-time. Other years, it has 2,000-3,000 miles on the oil. On rare and perfectly timed occasions, it's been as low as 20-30 miles. My UOAs have all been excellent, and I've never seen any indication that the mileage mattered. My cars get driven during the driving season, use high quality A40 approved oil, and change every 5K miles.

I do about 500 to 1500 Kilometers on mine per year then I store it and take it to the dealer in the spring, they do a checkup of the car change the oil and then I'm good to go.

Do it. I'll confess I never worried about it because I was able to take the car out for a 15-30 mile to work drive every few weeks, the oil got hot and the water vapor burned off so the car was next put away pretty much water vapor free. What you don't want to do is put the car away after a series of very short cold drives.

+1 on what Mike says. While living in the Catskills I generally put less than 1,500 miles a season on my 986. I changed the oil and filter at the beginning of the driving season and I made sure my immediate pre-storage run was at least 60-70 miles to be sure that all of the vapors were burnt off.

There is certainly no harm to changing the oil and filter as part of the winterizing routine but the more important point is to be sure each time you drive the car you drive it long enough to burn off the vapors. Serial short cold engine drives (even in the summer season) are major contributors to oil contamination.

Nothing really to worry about here...

If anything, you should not let the car sit for long time, just run the engine and drive the car more often.

Here in Co we have winters, but we also get warming days as well. I put mine in a semi stored state, but still gets driven when reasonable (I don’t do winter tires and don’t run my summers when it is really cold) I change my oil early spring, and maybe after summer if I have done a few track events. Not been an issue...
