where to get it?

I ordered it directly from Che, however you can find it on ebay.
I do not suggest paying extra for the titanium tips. I did and you cant even see them anyway. The tips are really tucked under the bumper.

message me if you need help installing it. It took me 2 hours, no big deal.

Stock vs. After market muffler weight wise.

Does anybuddy have the savings in weight over the stock muffler from any of the various aftermarket offerings?

after reading through this thread and looking at the auctions is there any reason to get the Catback Exhaust System when it costs $700 and only provides 5 rwhp more than the headers alone?

the headers sound like a much better deal, 10 rwhp and 17.94 torque for $500.

catback exhaust:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300055722961

headers:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300055722972

don't get me wrong i'm sure the exhaust sounds great, but $700 for 5 rwhp... $140 per hp just seems high.

well, it depends on how you look at it. do you buy it for the power? most aftermarket boxster mufflers LOSE power anyway. most buy it for the SOUND. it's the difference between sounding like a sewing machine driving by or a PORSCHE driving by. that, and $700 is cheap compared to the competition.

Yes. Adding an aftermarket muffler to a Boxter is ALWAYS about sound. Side benefits not often considered are lighter weight in the tail of the car and less residual heat. Performance with the stock rig is already excellent. So if you like it to sound a little rough... go for it. Personally I kinda like that sewing machine sound.

Exhaust installed YEAH!!!

Wow, what a nice difference in sound, not too loud but very nice roar. Got a professional muffler shop to do the install with me supervising every step. Final cost for install $80! Up next are the headers and Evo intake and some new performance spark plugs.

I would have to say that Che's product are very nicely made and quality is super. Wont hesitate to buy from him at ALL! Very satisfied

Holy Crap! 10,500 views on this thread. Che, you opened up one big can of worms, dude!

Just today I took the car out and ran it through the gears nice and hard and enjoyed that exhaust note all over again.

Not sure if anyone's asked this yet, but what about the resonance while cruising? I can't tolerate it. I want a better-sounding exhaust with no resonance that costs less than a PSE.

I have a 2000 Boxster S. Looking at the headers online it shows a place for a 02 sensor. Isn't there another one that needs to be hooked up?
It looks like these headers will eliminate the first set of cats on the 3.2 boxster. Is that correct?

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

For 2000' Boxster S you will need to add additional 2 O2 sensor bungs or bypass the 2 O2 sensors, this Header does not eliminate the first set cat. Thank you !

The straight pipes

The Youtube video posted on this thread is of my car.

I had the straight pipes installed over a year ago and kept them for about a year . My car is a daily driver with over 140,000 miles at this point. The set up was great unless I was on the highway and trying to have a conversation on the cell phone. I now have another modified setup, it is posted on youtube also.

I have more info and pictures I can direct everyone too if there is any intrest in this set up.

Gary, please post those links because they didn't show up in your post! I'd like to see them.

Never mind. I found it on the previous page.

Man that's loud. I can't imagine having a car any louder than mine with Che's headers and exhaust on it.

Hey all! I just recently purchased a cat-back system from Che also....and I can tell you like others have said, the quality is very good indeed. My son (who also owns a Boxster) was a welder for a few years, and he took a look at it and noted how the welds were done very nice.
As far as the sound goes, my Boxster S was pretty quiet for some reason, so the exhaust system helped a lot on my car. I could go for it to be a little louder myself, but I think most will be very happy with the deeper sound. I do get a little resonance at about 2,500 RPM, but to me that's when it sounds the best!
As far as modding the car, I'm a big fan of not having a "stock" anything, I don't think I have ever kept a car stock and probably never will.....doing stuff to my car is what I live for.
I don't think just the exhaust alone makes a big performance gain, but coupled with an EVO intake and chip, I do believe HP is gained.
