Quick Question: Brake Pad Retainer Kit

I'm getting ready to order new pads and rotors and was wondering if I can reuse the pins and retainers. At over $120 for a full set, I would prefer to put that money to use in higher quality pads and rotors.

OTOH, I want to do the job right, so if it's wise to replace the hardware, so be it. Thanks!

You can reuse the pins/retainers, there is no reason to replace them unless they are broken.

I have reused them, but also put in a new set every couple of years, I just did new rotors and pads all the way around and I put new hardware in. However I used Centric parts which are like $7 a set:

Thanks Steve! I know one of you guys would find that part cheaper!

After a thread search, I'm now finding that it's recommended to replace the caliper bolts as well when you do a rotor changeout.

Its the spring that tends to corrode.

You can reuse the pins and retainers, but you can't reuse the screws that mount the caliper to the hub. Porsche specifies replacement only ... once is enough to stretch them.

Ikchris is right. I had to remove my calipers at the track, the bolts started to strip out when removed.
Get the caliper studs from Tarrett. Well worth the $

Anti seize the caliper bolts... especially if you track the car.

Then use proper torque when tightening.

I've been doing this for years without any problems.
