It's the spring mentioned in the rennlist thread. They come from McMaster Carr as a bag of 6. It fits and it works, but I doubt I'm the only one who has tried it here so I'm sure someone else will weigh in.

I can't see how the longer compressed length can be a problem as the locking hole is visible with either spring in the compressed state. Wider might be a problem getting it into the canister. I didn't measure the canister while it was out.
