Gearbox oil change???

How often you used to change your gear box oil? My car has now seen 14 years and 160.000km and I´m wondering, should i change the oil already?

I´m going to test RedLine75W90NS.

my mechanic used the redline oil you listed, i was a bit nervous when he told me as i have read that only the porsche factory oil should be used. I havent had any issues with it. once the car is warmed up it shifts smoothly. I changed mine at 90,000 miles per my owners manual.

Way to long. Change it now.

Since you rarely do this anyway, why not go with the Porsche oil? All other oil has a TON of debate around it...

Change it. Use the Porsche stuff. You only need to buy about 3 litre.

I just did mine, 2000S, it took 2.8 L and I got the Porsche stuff, best price I found was from ECSTuning.com. It was relatively easy to do and it made a big difference in the feel of my shifting.

Bought mine from ECS as well for my 2000 S. relatively easy project and shifting is improved. Changed mine at 115k miles, not sure if PM had ever done it or not, but made shifting much smoother and easier.

Thanks for the advice. I already bought RedLine so i will test it anyway. I´m from Finland and nearest Porsche dealer is 400km away from my city, so it´s easier to buy stuff i can get from local shops.

I will write some experiences when a driving season begins. It´s still -20 Celsius here in Finland and Boxster rests in garage another 3 months

I used the redline 75w90ns and it seems to improve feel and be working fine. having said that, I will most likely go to oem for my next change. I think the Porsche change interval is too long (similar to their oil change interval) and like to use the 48k km interval recommended by pelican:

Mine was right around 109,000, and based on my service records I don't think it had ever been done (if it had, it was in the first 60,000 miles). It made a big difference
