How can a 911 3.4 have so much more HP than a 3.2 Boxster S?

As soon as it goes and I know I'm not going to recover I got both feet in, clutch and brake. And I am hard on the brake. Watch the car leisurely [edit: watching it again it is not so leisurely, it is really rolling fast] roll back across the track, inside the car I can hear (and feel) the ABS clicking like mad. I guess I should have let off and reapplied the brakes? Also I have added a new step to "In for a spin, both feet in" and that is to center the wheel so I don't curve back around across the track if my braking is unsuccessful.

Would applying the handbrake as you come close to being stopped prevent rolling back?

Maybe but I doubt I could successfully pull that off... I think pulsing the brake pedal once to maybe "reset" the ABS when the car switched from rolling forwards to rolling backwards would probably work better. Although it all happens so fast...

The guy who spun out should have hit the brakes instead of letting it roll backwards across the track. The Miata didn't have anywhere to go.

things happen on the track. ultimately it was up to the miata not to hit the vette. there was room to stop. he made a call, it didn't work out, no one was hurt. i understand his call - i decided not to stop too - the corner into that mess is fast, and peaked like a road so that the outside is off-camber - it would have been a bit of a cluster if cars started stacking-up in there. first thing i was ever taught at the track - "drive as fast as you can afford".

anyway, sorry for thread hijack. GF says my car sounds like a cartoon car - if a kid could make a race car, that's what it would sound like. not sure if that was meant as praise, but i'll take it. very happy with the 996 tune.
