We have two 986s in the family since new, a car built in spring of '97 and a 2004 S, both with original glass and rubber. The '97 has a plain rubber seal. The 2004 has an added narrow decorative band, not chrome but similar to the GT silver body color.

The early version has an unpleasant issue of separating itself from the glass and window frame, bulging outward at the upper corners leaving a gap.
