Control Arm Bushings

I was going to replace my control arm bushings as allowed by certain racing rules to minimize deflection that causes caster and toe change during wheel loading, but I can't figure out how in the world to remove the stock bushings.

I have hammered on them, and heated the control arms with a torch, but no still no luck. Does anyone know the trick to this?

Your local alignment shop should have a small press that will make the job a lot easier, also I have seen some guys burning the rubber with a torch and then with a punch remove the metal ring.

However, if you having problems removing the old one, you may well be needing a press to install the new one

Remember, there is no substitute for the right tools...

What he said! Plus if you get too brutal you can break expensive stuff. I always watch someone use a hydraulic press on a part the first time then I can do it after that. Saves a lot of heartache.

Thanks guys. I tried using my vice as a press, which normally works, but not on this one. Oh boy more tools to buy...

for a small press, perhaps Harbor Freight.

I usually don't but tools there (junk) but for something this that will be used very seldom, it should work out for you (and cheap).

Otherwise take your parts to a shop with a press, should not be expensive.
