Rough running (w/Check Engine light) after jump start

I had to jump start my 2001 Boxster S after leaving the V1 "ON". Now it's missing and running very badly.

Any ideas?

dead battery = same as disconnect (memory is forgotten)

Should straighten out after 30-50miles once it relearns air-flow, mapping etc.

Good luck

I heard about that possibility but wasn't sure how long to expect it to clear up.
If Check Eng. light should be expected as well, I should be alright.

Thanks Burg.

Have you scanned the OBD to see what code is coming up ?

Oops, Check Engine light should not be lit. Go to local parts store and get codes read for free and post back.

Good luck :-)

I haven't scanned the OBD.
Can I do this without special tools?

You'll need an On Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) electronic code reader. It plugs into the colored connector (my '99 is purple) under the dash just above your left knee. Available at any auto parts store.

Alternatively, any Autozone (and some other auto parts stores) will read the code for you for free. Be sure to get the exact codes (they will start with a P followed by four numbers). Post them here and someone will give you some advice on where to go from there.

Does the results of my diagnostic readout sound like it will just clear up after driving to allow for self adjustment of the mapping system?
