You'll need an On Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) electronic code reader. It plugs into the colored connector (my '99 is purple) under the dash just above your left knee. Available at any auto parts store.

Alternatively, any Autozone (and some other auto parts stores) will read the code for you for free. Be sure to get the exact codes (they will start with a P followed by four numbers). Post them here and someone will give you some advice on where to go from there.
