Wow! Thanks for the detailed suggestion. I really hope that it doesn't come to my having to remove the bumper.

I live in a condo and don't have a garage of my own to work on the car, so stuff like this can become really irritating to me. I am hoping that the screwdriver trick works. Once I am able to get my stuff out of the trunk, I will not be putting anything else in there just in case it happens again... lol

Hopefully I can get this open by the weekend- it supposed to be 70 degrees and my golf shoes, driver and three wood are in the trunk! UGH!!!

Update:

I got frustrated enough after not getting the trunk open so I dropped by the local Porsche dealership today to have them take a look.

They actually gave it a look at no charge!

The service manager came back and said that it appears that the alarm has taken on water- no suprise here ( I have another thread going about water leaking in). So they manually opened the trunk for me today- got my groceries and golf stuff out- thank goodness!

They want $150 to diagnose the alarm issue. They offered to do a "scotch guard type" treatment on the top as it has become porus over the years and water seeps through now when it rains hard- charge of $145.

I will be doing to the scotch guard treatment myself this weekend- also having a new window sewn in at an interior shop.

So next project will be to have the dealer run the diagnostic to see what is up with the alarm.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys!

That's great that they go the trunk open for you, but that line about the scotch guard treatment is baloney. You can use Raggtop brand protectant to make your top bead water off when it rains, but in reality, water will still not permeate thru the soft top because if you look closely at the underside of the top, there's a rubber sheath in the underlining, which means NO WATER can actually go thru the soft top unless there's a hole in it. The scotchguard treatment is a nice way to extract a few extra bucks from you.

If water is getting into the area of your alarm unit under the seat, it is because one or more of your drains are clogged up, not because your top needs any sort of chemical treament spray.

Or the rear curtain on the back of the top is not properly installed.
