Evap Purge Valve ?

Can someone tell me where the Evap Purge valve is on the Boxster (2000, 2.7). I saw the diagram of the 996 (M96) engine where you can clearly see the valve....I just can't seem to find it in that location on the Boxster.

Anyone change one of these?.....I am getting P0455 CEL Large Leak (Evap)...no pressure when I remove the gas cap. I already replaced the cap, and inspected the canister....everything looked good. Next step is to test the purge valve.

Has anyone gone through this?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply CJ.....was yours stuck open or closed?.....I am still getting a p0455 code (large leak)......replaced the valve up by the canister, and the shutoff valve (on the filler neck)...plus the gas cap....this is killing me.

Did you replace yours?......the end of the valve at the back of the car is just a clamp, but how does it disconnect at the other end (towards drivers seat)?

Thanks for your help.

I thought you got rid of your Boxster??????

Hi:

I am also getting the same CEL P0455, every fuel refill it comes back when the tank is 3/4 full. I have replaced the fuel cap but no luck. I am think of replacing EVAP Purge Valve . But I am not sure where is the valve located on my 986 - 2000.

There are two different systems; one system is associated with the fuel evap system and the second is associated with the secondary air injection system.

A general description of the fuel evap system is here: http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h62.pdf

A general description of the secondary air injection system is here: Secondary air injection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fuel evap canister purge valve is discussed here: EVAP Canister Valve - 986 Series (Boxster, Boxster S) - RennTech.org Forums

The secondary air injection system valves/reservoir are under the intake plenum and behind the alternator and is discussed here: P0491 and P0492 secondary air injection codes - 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa) - RennTech.org Forums

Hope these point you in the right direction.
