I'm having trouble with the math but I think I am getting close...
You spent $12K for the 3.6 wreck and will pay another $12K for the shop to do the conversion.

Needless to say.. I say go for it, but don't be suprised if the "install estimate" changes before all is done. I also wonder what kind of wreck the car was in to ensure there wasn't damage to the engine/trans to begin with.

for '98's Porsche stiffened the front chassis to handle 18" wheels. 19" wheels weren't "ok'd" by Porsche till the 987 Boxster which again, was substantially revised.

BTW, what happens if another 350Z smokes you..

very true, before any work is done I would draft up an agreement between you and the shop saying that they will cap all costs at $12K for all services related to this project. If additional parts are needed you will pay for those parts but not the service and you have the right to supply your own parts. They have some cheap lawyer in a box software available.

talk about being at the right place at the right time! You should call RUF and see if they have some records regarding the modifications, dyno charts etc. That way you can get a better idea of what was in the donor car and what you can expect to roughly get. In regards to your question if you should do it I would say "HELL YES!" It sounds like financiallyit is not a burden for you, if you can afford it go for it! just keep it mind, cars are not an investment, the only R.O.I your gonna get is the smile on your face when you blow unsuspected motorist. In fact, I may have a great idea how you can recoupe some of the cost that you will incur with this mod. Call visa tell them you have a great comercial, $12,000 for 97 boxter+$20k RUF upgrade= smokin a $50,000 carrera= priceless!!! Just remember no matter what you do to you car, it will be eventually be a money pit, at least now you know you are getting the best stuff, so just get it over with! Do us a favor, post a picture and details of how the mod went, and again I must stress on posting a picture because I often go to socal and I dont wanna be a victim of your "sleeper RUF"

				for that money

For that kind of money, I would hope you get to KEEP the old motor!!!

There was a shop in atlanta that was doing the whole conversion just for $15000.
I believe it was Rooke motorsport..

For 24K, I would insist that I get the old motor so I could recoup some of my money.

actually, if it's an '03 it is a 3.6L. if it's a 3.4L, then it's a 1999 or a 2000.
