Booklet tray under the steering wheel

Does anyone know how to remove the booklet tray from underneath the steering wheel on a 2001 Boxter? It is so annoying!

I just ripped mine off. It is held on with two plastic pins. Somehow I didn't even damage the dash when i pulled it off.

If I recall correctly, it is held in with two plastic rivets. You could try drilling them out, or just pull it off as mentioned above.

I am not sure why it is annoying? I put my insurance and registration paperwork there. I found a black leather document holder which fits the holder perfectly.

I store my baseball cap there. A glove box would be much better then the cost saving tray but it's there and since I found a use for it it's staying.

Good idea. I used to store the sun visor/shade there, but I removed my visors so no way to keep it up.

I get you

I can see how it would be annoying for some as I often hit my legs on it. I could see anyone over 6'3 or larger legs/rums would have a couple bruises on their knees from it and I'm not nearly that big.

Umm, does no one else use it for the intended purpose and keep their manual there?

Nope. No good reason, just don't like it.

I used to keep my owners manual black booklet there until someone broke into my car obviously thinking it was some kind of black leather purse/wallet.

It was the only thing that had been rifled through. It was scattered about the interior.

Now I place it out of sight.Good idea about the hat though. Maybe a good spot for the cell phone as well.

Never liked the look of a that bracket. Even before my car was a race car, I removed it.

I'm thinking about removing mine. It has come loose and won't hold anything. I'm in Sweden so postage to the UK shouldn't be too steep.

My manual is about as thick as George Costanza's wallet so it doesn't come close to fitting in there. It's been that way since I bought it and couldn't be bothered to do anything about it.

Haha, exactly!
I never used the shelf, until I mounted the LED control for my SkyBreaker windscreen there.

Ha! How did it get so thick? You're not supposed to keep condoms in it, you know.
