I received an e-mail for a member, he's out unfortunately, so I have two set available.
I will contact the next two on my list once the packages are ready.

Ben.

Throwing my name in the hat for a short shifter. The " beast " revs so fast I could use some help in the shifting arena :D. PM'd my info to you.

rfuerst911sc 02-20-2016 04:34 AM

Just a thought on the gated shifter in regards to the shifter shaft being rectangular vs. round. Could a round piece of SS tubing snugly fit over the rectangular shaft ? I would think some thin wall tubing would not be too large in OD, it could be polished and would eliminate the concern of the looks of the exposed rectangular shaft. The tube could be end user cut to length so depending on what shift knob they choose to use the length could be adjusted. Depending on how snug the fit is there may be no need for any adhesive or if adhesive is needed it could be silicone or RTV so not permanent and reversible if desired.

Ben006 02-20-2016 07:45 AM

The problem with the gate plate is that even the base of the shifter's handle is too thick to have something that looks good.
I'm still working on it... kind of, since I have no money for the prototypes it's hard.

Ben

Ben006 02-22-2016 12:10 PM

Ok, so I went to the machine shop today... it was close...
I'll go tomorrow morning, it doesn't matter, I still don't have the bearings anyway.

I'll keep you in touch!

Ben.

Ben006 02-23-2016 07:17 AM

Parts are at the machine shop :D

But I'm still waiting for the ball bearings ... should be there by the 25th !

thatguychad 02-23-2016 12:39 PM

Thanks for the update!

Ben006 02-24-2016 12:16 PM

The guys at the machine shop are really fast!
Parts were ready today at noon!

I will start to put everything back together, so when I receive the bearings I can send everything almost right away (still need to do 15 packages!).

I will send everyone on the main list a pm and an E-mail about payment, and when everyone on the main list is OK, I will contact the ones on the waiting list so they can have the "leftover" :)

Thank you guys,
Ben.

Same here.

01BOXYS 02-24-2016 02:23 PM

I didn't want to say anything but I think I was the first. :) I'm excited to get this project started as soon as t arrives. This will be the perfect project to take my mind of not driver her for a while still here in MN. Though this Saturday it's supposed to be 55 and sunny. That sounds like top down weather!

Ben,

Why not do a kick starter kind of thing for the next project. There are some of us that would support your efforts in R&D knowing it might be a bust but could be cool.

For those of you that have kids HAHa! My better 7/8ths raised 5 girls and still had time for our hobbies. All my girls can do car things and 1 Is a superior welder and complete car nut. She's building a hot rod 911 that might get on the road this summer.

You mention that you are ASE certified. I'm a NIASE certified master. That is going back a ways I tell ya!

IMO, that's basically what this thread is, a micro Kickstarter.

Also, where can I watch your latest project, the white wedge?

Yep, a fund raising for: http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/55966-intake-plenum-911-throttle-body-9.html, basically ;)

Right now I try to focus on getting a job as a technician, I have to wait until June for my AAS degree :)

After that, once I have a stable situation, I should be able to try new things without worrying much about money and do them in a more "official" manner!

I really appreciate your interest and comments, I hope to keep the development going, I just LOVE it !

Ben.

Ben006 02-29-2016 12:00 PM

Hi everyone,

Still no signs of the bearings today :/

I'm in contact with the supplier, they will send me another package faster, I hope we won't have to wait too much.

I'm sorry for this!

I'll keep you in touch with the solution or if I receive them.

Ben.

Ben006 03-01-2016 09:14 AM

Update #2:
The guys will send me another package with a faster method tomorrow.

Sorry again for that.
For those who have paid, don't worry, your money will not move until I know you've received your shifter!

Ben.

Ben006 03-02-2016 09:42 AM

Update #3:
They send me a new package.
I give you the tracking number so you can follow it: LK107776701HK

Ben.

steved0x 03-02-2016 10:28 AM

No worries, at least from my side. Based on your previous successful shifter runs, I have faith you will deliver :)

Thanks for the update, added to my Delivery Status tracker.

Zeusanova 03-04-2016 09:30 AM

I'm in for the next available batch as well. PM sent. Thanks.

Ben006 03-04-2016 09:40 AM

Got it ;)

From the tracking, the package is n NY, should be here soon!

Ben.

thatguychad 03-04-2016 10:56 AM

Let's see which is faster, west coast or east coast customs. My backup camera has been "processed through sort facility: ISC Los Angeles" since February 22nd.

Ben006 03-09-2016 09:47 AM

I called the USPS customer service.
There is nothing we can do, we have to wait for the package to go out of custom ...

I feel so bad for that :/

I hope it's coming soon.

It took over a week for my package to clear customs on the west coast (and its status still says it's in customs, though it was delivered Monday.)

Ben006 03-11-2016 05:44 AM

The package finally moved!
I should get it soon :)

Ben006 03-13-2016 10:45 AM

I put the shifters back together, I just need to do the packaging and schedule the pickups!

Ben.

CHRISP357 03-13-2016 11:21 AM

Installed mine last night. The feel is phenomenal! Raining today so I can't take it out but smooth and very "notchy". This is how it should have felt from the factory.
Anything engineered by Ben, I'm buying!

BrokenLinkage 03-13-2016 02:56 PM

Please clarify what you mean by "I have no news of you guys."

I scheduled the pickups for tomorrow, for everyone that has already paid!

Some will have the bearing already in the cups, some will not, don't worry, I tested every one of them, they fit!

If you have a doubt, don't touch anything and send me a PM.
NEVER put a bearing in the "cups" without the washers inside, or you will never get them out!

I'm in a hurry right now, I will take time to explain better tomorrow.

Thank you guys !

Ben.

Ps: Brokenlinkage, sorry, nothing's wrong for you, I PM'd you :)

Ben006 03-15-2016 04:05 PM

Well, my car going into open header mode this afternoon prevented me to do everything I had to do...
But all the package have been sent, I'm sending everyone their tracking number right now.

Thanks to all of you guys.

Ben.

Received the Short Shifter Today!

Thanks again -
