Read my post. The question is do I need 2 or 4? Both ends of the U pipe or just the muffler end. And no word on the Hanger mounting bolts? Don't be such a turd Slate. Ok, I'm calm again too.

Ok...now I'm stumped. I installed the 2" Easy clamp from NAPA...now called 2" SafetyClamp. I can't get them tight! I've tightened them down all the way and they still float on the pipe. My pipes seem to be 1 7/8" not 2". Anyone else found this? This is the connection from the muffler to the U pipe.

Unfortunately I do not have any wisdom for you on this one, as I had mine welded. I really don't like exhaust leaks...

That's a tricky one to answer. How loud at what distance? Under what conditions? Anyone with a smartphone can get a db reading that won't be dead on, but will put you in the ballpark. But obviously the loudness at idle from 15 feet (5 meters for you Metric types) will be a lot different than 6000 rpm at the the same distance.

As a strictly non-scientific answer, they're not so loud as to generate complaints from my neighbors or my wife. I'd say generally no louder than my GMC pickup with the Duramax diesel.

From the muffler to the U pipe, I used the OEM clamps, the easy clamp was only used for the cat bypass pipe connections in my installation. I looked at my connections and the muffler to the U pipe is definitely a smaller diameter, so yes, you would need a smaller easy clamp for that connection.

Thanks Bruce. That's what I thought. So the info in earlier posts saying you can use the 2" easy clamps on the U pipe to muffler connect is wrong. And from what I can see the smallest Easy Clamp is 2".

I think you have to hammer the U pipe into the muffler a bit then clamp, I butted the U and the muffler and it keeps sliding out

I must have missed that post or just didn't pay attention. It takes some fiddling to get the U pipe connected to the muffler, but once you do, the OEM clamps work well for that connection.

The U part has to be pushed into the muffler pipe correct? The cat delete / u pipe is butted though?

That sounds correct, but it has been a while since I did mine. You are using the step down pipe from the Cat delete pipes, right?

Yep that's not the trouble spot though it's where it hits the muffler

Fixed, cut a bit off the U pipe shoved it in the muffler and clamped tight.

Has anyone tried something like this for the drone. Early models don't have the double cats, so we can't do the cat delete or Easy Clamp.

Exhaust drone - solved
