Guys,
I could use some advice from those of you with the test pipes and TS exhaust. I installed the exhaust but felt there was too much drone, however I still had all 4 cats in my '01 S. I put the stock exhaust back on, but have since installed the 2nd cat delete (which is great). I live in the mountains, which can really make drone in an exhaust stand out as hills in higher gears can put the car in the 'drone sweet spot'. Question - does running the TS exhaust with the test pipes in place reduce drone? This is compared to TS exhaust with all 4 cats in place. Thanks! Gary |
Take a look at my previous posts on this. I do not have any drone to speak of. I have the pipes and the exhaust. I also used better clamps than what came with the pipes.

A few weeks ago I installed headers/high flow cats with the rear cat delete pipes and a Dansk sport muffler. Love the setup but I had a slight leak at the cat delete slip joint. Because of this post I went to Napa and ordered two of the 2 " clamps. I installed them today wow they do make a difference ! Zero leaks and it seemed to very slightly alter the sound of the exhaust for the better. For 22.00 with tax it was a great investment. Appreciate the tip :cheers:

Maybe it is just wishful thinking but I swear my 01 has more get up and go with the secondary cats gone and the aftermarket muffler. No dyno proof but it just feels quicker, and for sure sounds quicker. The best $500 upgrade you can do for putting a smile on your face.:cool:

If I had to guess I'll say an improvement of 5-8 hp. I have a baseline dyno run for my car done by Jake Raby. I'm going to get another run done by Jake now that I have done the headers/high flow cats, cat delete and Dansk muffler to see what they really added. Then plan on doing a UD pulley install by Jake and do one more run to see what that added. If nothing else good data points.

With my Che headers, factory cats, and Che muffler, I got 19 hp more on my base Boxster according to dyno runs...

I finally got around to installing this onto my car. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it but this install took almost 8 hours. There are three bolts in a triangle formation where the delete pipes attach to the old exhaust. All three on the drivers side were rusted to crap and needed to be drilled off. This took the majority of the time. Also the bolt provided that is designed to attach the muffler was not long enough so I had to make a trip to get a longer one. After 8 long hours I finally got everything on and I could not be more pleased. No leaks, no drone and it sounds amazing. I also really like how it is still a very quiet idle. I know this is totally in my head but it feels like a different car. I cant believe I drove her for three years without this. I think I can feel a bit of a difference in power but really only when revving pretty high. All in all I am very satisfied, thank you so much Top speed!

Guys I'm dusting off this thread to ask a question about these sure seal clamps. Can they be used in place of the other factory clamps ? I have a slight leak on both sides and regardless of how I position the OEM clamps and how tight I can get them they still leak. Will the 2 " sure seal clamps work ? I want to use them on both sides of the U pipes.

Had the TSPro exhaust installed without any bypass/delete pipes and now have the infamous drone problem. Looking at getting the "catless test pipe", also from TSPro. Can someone help me with other parts that I need to get along with the test pipes?
While installing the exhaust, my mechanic had to cut the C-pipe (or is it called U-pipe?) between the exhaust and secondary cats because the angle wasn't right between the exhaust and secondary cats with the C-pipe as is. Now, if I am replacing the secondary cat section with the test pipes, do I need a new set of C-pipes? And, what's this clamp business? Thanks! |
