Box muffler reconstruction

I was wandering if the "angle" of the hole makes a difference in the sound. Such as bending the lip nearest the rear inward to catch more exhaust. Thought maybe that would help a smaller hole (avoid the drone) pick up more exhaust consequently more sound? Anyone tried it??

I have drilled a one inch hole in both sides and have NO hint of a drone.

I drilled used a .50 bit and then opened it up a bit more to around .75 inches.
Sounds great I don't know about the HP but it leaves things "stock" visually for the CA smog test.
