6 point harness
I posted this question in another thread but figured I should start my own:
I swap my race seat in and out for my track days. This year I want to upgrade to a 6 point harness and a HANS device. I want to keep my 3 point belts in place for street driving but also if I go on track with a passenger/instructor so that we will have equal safety restraints. I also have the BK extension. What is involved in the harness installation if I am retaining the oem belts?

I'm a bit confused by your keeping the 3pt system for instructors. PCA now requires the passenger seat match the driver's if you're going to have a passenger during a session. Are you saying you'll use the 6pt when driving by yourself and a 3pt if you have a passenger?

really no interaction. Run the stock belt through the holes in the seat.

Yes. I don't really want to spring for another race seat and harness and possibly HANS device for the rare occasion when I have a passenger at the track. At the moment, when I ask an instructor for a ride along, I'm using the 3 point.

As a student when I take a ride with an instructor in his car, we both have to use the 3 point belts even if he has harnesses on both sides, since I don't have a HANS device. I am seriously considering purchasing the Simpson hybrid HANS that works with 3 point belts and harnesses though for this year.

Yes, this is the new regulation, the requirement of a HANS device when using a full harness. It makes sense: if your body is being held rigid and upright by a harness, then the bowling ball on top needs to be restrained the same way! It’s all or nothing here. You’re better off with a standard oem 3 point than a 6 point harness with no HANS.

You can add harnesses without impacting 3 pt belt, I run both:
Harness shoulder belts wrapped to roll hoop bottoms (height works for me)
Sub belts wrapped to sub bar mounted under the seat to the rails.
Lap belts:
Outboard, snapped into an eyebolt that I used to replace the OEM seat belt outer bolt. It is a Motorsports eyebolt from schroth
Inboard lap belt, snapped into a Brey Krause adapter that lets you mount both the seat belt receptacle for 3 pt belt and harness lap belt to the mounting point for the 3 point belt (hopefully your seat mounts have this)
I can get part #'s on Monday from my computer. If you get a 2nd set of seat belt receptacles to mount on your race seat it eases the hassle. :-)

Wish you lived around my block so that I could come and see this. I’m very visual so it’s not easy for me to get a good grasp on this. So you have 2 seat receptacles? If ever you find the part numbers or links to a diagram, I would be greatly appreciative!

Exactly how I have mine installed.
No impact on 3 point belts for the street.
NewArt look at BK website for the parts.
