From what I've seen with the local spec boxster crowd. Heat and bad shifting kills the five speed. Some guy tap the case so cool oil from the cooler pours directly onto third and fourth gears because those are the gears that they kill the most. A cooler can't hurt but I know some guys who don't run a cooler at all and their transmission's last for two-three seasons. They swear it's all about correct shifting. I have one friend who got bored racing spec and put a 3.4 in his car. He tracks it constantly and I believe he's still using a 5 speed with no problems. That's around 300hp. The porsche 3.4 has a lot less torque than the V8 you're using though. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't try dropping the clutch in first
