I'll be putting the car on scales in a few weeks when I take the car into a local shop for this season's upcoming annual tech inspection. I'm guessing we go the car down into the 2850lbs range with gas and driver. Spec Boxster rules are 2700lbs with gas and driver minimum, so we're getting close. Per rules the car is still all metal other than a GT3 nose I put on a few weeks ago. I'll be posting some pics of that in the next few days as well.

At Laguna Seca especially, we were really having success running against Vipers, EVO's, Vettes and Spec Miatas. We have more power than a Spec Miata and we can outhandle the bigger cars. As setup, this car has great bang for the buck.

Now...to find time to cut down those vids....

That's very impressive. But all I could think about was how you used 1 picture per post, and how this board only lets you submit once every 60 seconds. I don't suppose my mind works like most. Anyway, I like the car! Get some video if you can of Laguna Seca!

i saw few pics online of it somewhere on the racing forum, glad you posted them here.
i dont htink i would have the heart to do that to a porsche, but i bet the satisfaction on the track and hearing all that noise makes up for it.

Wow.. Really cool. Curious though.. Does the rear rolbar (x brace) interfere with engine access or rear shock tower access?

Looks like a fun little car now. Any idea about what she weighs?

Believe it or not, the heat and A/C are still in the car! At Sears Point last month, it was very chilly in the morning. We just put on the heat and it was nice and comfortable in the car during the first 2 run sessions!

Hi Racer_d,

It's snug, but I can remove both the top and belt panel completely out of the car. With the soft top mechanism gone and the hard top off, there is a surprising amount of room to work on the motor.

We'll be weighing her in the next few weeks on the scales. I'll report back with the actual numbers.

Tearing into a cherry car is always a tough call. Alot of time wreckers get made into race cars. I've gone that route before. But I must say that when the car is in great shape, the build is much easier. Nothing bent, nothing broken, no rust. And the car looks absolutely stunning on track!

With early Boxsters now showing up in the $10,000 range, I'm sure we will see many more of them converted into track cars. I think this will only enhance the Boxster's reputation as a viable competition car, instead of just the 911s little brother.

Thats great!! After long debare i decided to go for 986 boxter my self and once i get another porsche my 986 will become BSR car as well....but untill then BSX
