I are now a Boxster owner (PICS added)

Picked up a 2001 base Boxster today. Grey/grey, 40k miles. Runs great and all that jazz. Kinda dirty, tho, since it was raining and nasty everywhere. The interior is pretty dirty too, and shows some wear on a lot of the black parts. Seems that whatever Porsche coats the plastic stuff with will break down, so I've read. I'll have to do a little bit of refurbishing, but I don't mind.

Anyway, I got home (to Austin) from San Antonio with the car a little while ago. Haven't had her long enough to really get a feel for her yet, but I'm really liking how well she drives. The clutch feels good, steering is tight and responsive, the throttle is responsive, and it pulls very strongly.

If the weather is not crap tomorrow (it's supposed to be), I'll get a few pictures.

ONE little booger tho, when they took it to get inspected today, the number plate lights were not functioning. New bulbs, same thing. The fuse is not blown. Everything else works. Any suggestions? I'm going to try to check it out myself, it's probably something minor, but the salesman said if I couldn't get it working, to take it to a dealer and he'd pay to have it fixed.

My 2001 had 40,232 miles on the ticker when I signed the papers today. $19k was the selling price (plus some carry over from a trade in, warranty, tax, title, my left kidney and first born child...)

It's got low miles, but the interior needs some work, and though the paint and body look good, I will probably have it professionally buffed and polished.

It also had the 18" wheels and Litronics... so I can't complain too bad!

Interesting. I drove a 2002 base today with an impecible (sp?) interior. No xenons, but the interior looked new. So a 2002 base with tip, 35,000 miles at $22,995 is a good price? I even asked for the manager to inquire about a PPI and he agreed. My only problem, and I am about the middle of the road when it comes to knowledge about cars. The lugs were rusted along with a little rust on the axle that connected the wheels the the axle? Is this normal? Anyone have any opinions?

BTW: The box of wine from Target...5 bottles for 14.99, pretty good

I'm guessing you are talking about the rotors? Just like DJ said on the lugs - very normal for rust to show on the rotors if undriven. They'll clean up nicely when driven through the twisties....

Grizz, it's a grey top. Looks pretty nice. It has a couple rough spots, but doesn't leak. The plastic window needs some TLC. The car also had the windscreen.

Jeff, I'm on the north end of Austin, almost in Round Rock. Austin is a great place to live, but traffic sucks pretty bad if you have to go any distance during the normal hours. I work a late shift, so I miss traffic both ways. The Hill Country starts on Austin's west side... plenty of twisty roads out that way!

Smagerstein, looks like I got your car's twin! I really think it looks nice with grey on grey with a grey top!
