An indicated 125 on the back straigh at Mid-OH; I'm thinking it was just tad optimistic.

Roscoe--how come you don't drive that fast at the track? --just kidding..

127 MPH on the back straight at Road Atlanta.. The car was starting to lift off the ground going down the hill into 10A. Thats with a 230 HP 2.5 liter engine.

My Wife is currently .45 MPH from a Land Speed Record with my 996 at 149.281 MPH recorded at Maxton NC back in September.

Don't have a Boxster yet. However, the fastest I've ever been in my car is it's electronically limited 115. But, that was when I was 16, I've slowed down a little bit. Fastest I've ever been is riding shotgun in my cousin's 03 Z06 at around 150.

When I first bought mine I was driving home on a long straight dual cartridge way and a MX5 came bobbing up behind me, giving the Boxsters ass a sniff a little to close so I dropped a gear and put my foot down. When I felt I was going fast I looked at the dash and it said i was doing "123 mph" and I still had another gear to go!

Looking in the mirror and there was a little red dot in the distance (the mx5).

Laughing to myself like a mad man I slowed down, heart pumping and amazed at how fast, and more scary was how easy it is to drive fast without knowing it. The hood was down too.

I then cruised all the way home under 70 and haven't been much over 80 ever since.

I did learn one lesson from this though. Wear a cap! My first day out in the Box and I had half a sun burned face and looked a pillock.

If anybody wants to race me I let them past now...knowing that you can probably beat them if you want is a wonderful thing.

It's all about having all four tires at the proper slip angle!!!
126 in a drift on US 280 outside Jackson's Gap, Alabama.
Came out of the last turn and saw the road straighten out ahead over several little rises. Looked down, noted the now 128 and stood on the brakes down a little hill. No sense risking a major ticket just going straight. Came over next rise at about 75 (speed limit was 70) to an Alabama State Trooper sitting on the left side of the road. I gave him a little friendly wave, like I was enjoying an afternoon cruise and he ignored me.
Stopped at next gas station to clean out underwear!!! :-)
I am very pleasantly surprised that the low speed understeer goes away at speed. The car was very comfortably nuetral.

The above stipulations still apply, this is the only proof I have of going anywhere near the stated speed of 166 MPH. At the time I did not have a LWFW, UDP, ECU, 997 TB, or IPD intake plenum installed.

woah, 3 times the limit is really pushing it, good job you didn't get caught as that would have been jail time in the UK lol.

What do they do when they catch you having a pleasant bump in the back seat some where indiscreet.

Mid 130MPH territory for me; I don't watch the speedo so I couldn't say for sure; could be a little more but I know the car still has more in her when I get off the throttle.
We're fortunate enough in the Chicagoland area to have several good tracks nearby to really enjoy these cars as they were meant to be driven, but my Boxster doesn't have the horsepower to top out, even on Road America's mile long straightaway...
My only 'gripe' would be the brakes. While they are definitely superb for street use, I plan to upgrade them at some point for better consistency on the track.

I read this post a few years ago but didn't have it in me to push it to the limits on American roads. Then I moved to Germany. The other day it went up to 300 kph (186 mph). The needle was pegged, but that's what the digital speedo indicated.

137 mph was it for me , you need a lot more room to move up in mph from that point.

Just over 140. It's a 2.5, so you need plenty of space once you're above 130.
