Broke plastic tube replacing Change-Over Valve for Air Injection

I was replacing the Change-Over Valve for Air Injection on my 99 Boxster USA spec and broke plastic tube with wires going through it. Anyone know what this tube with wires is for and what is the easiest least painful way to fix? I was going to see if I could glue a sleeve around the break to hold the 2 pieces together but the end connected to the air intake to the throttle body, I think, is broke too.

Is that the oil dipstick tube? (The "wires" the dipstick?)
If it is, replace the whole thing, not too hard or expensive. Leaving it cracked will cause a crankcase vacuum leak.

You are correct 78F350 oil dipstick tube. I guess it could be worse. Do you have any experience replacing it? Not Oil filler tube. Sorry guys! Just ordered one.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but if that's a 986 that's not the oil filler tube.

78F350, I believe, is correct. Dipstick tube. The tube is illustrated with the arrow pointing to it.

I believe the larger diameter tube to the right, in the picture, is the oil filler tube.

It's been a couple years since I did it, but from what I remember, it was pretty simple once you have access. Check this old thread:

On the one I did, the tube was pretty much gone. I kept wondering why there was no oil reading on the dipstick after I kept adding and adding it:

So the dipstick tube comes out and is replaced by threading it through the trunk into the engine compartment? So the O-ring and that end POPS through the hole in the trunk where the filler caps are and clips into place? I was trying to pull the tube out through the engine compartment. My concern is not the end with the quick disconnet but the other end and getting it through the hole in the trunk where the coolant tank is

I'll take a look, but I think that you push one end into the trunk from the engine compartment, then attach the other end to the engine.

I was wrong in the previous post. It's actually quite easy to feed in from the trunk.

Damn....I just broke mine tonight!!! I will look at the other link in this thread for instructions.......but my first question is how it disconnects on the engine side I am certain the trunk part is not a problem. My car is a 01 base
