Geez is there something in the water around here?
Did Christmas wear off? The bill came in?
One guy is crotchety because the help he got wasn't exactly the help he wanted, and responds accordingly.
Instead of letting it roll off like most adults have learned to do with someone who is either constitutionally or situationally intemperent, the crowd instead unleashes on him to heighten the drama. OK, one pacifist thankfully spoke up to de-escalate.
(But of course, no keyboard warrior worth his internet testicles could leave this alone)
Now one of our oldest and most valuable contributers is possibly quitting the forum because one of the hundreds of forum participants had a moment of disrespect? Would be kinda like me saying I'm not going back to LA because someone was rude to me there once.
Come on guys, try the decaf.
Lets talk about cats, or which oil is best, or where to mount your handgun in the cabin, or the best IMS fix, or just all go have dinner with Mr Landa at the Cheesecake Factory. But enuf of this fractiousness, we have probably all had our moments.

The key in my daughter's car was very hard to turn even after replacing the electronic ignition switch. I have disassembled some old ignition tumblers and found that they had hardened grease jamming them. Try cleaning and lubing the ignition. With my daughter's car, I just put grease on the key and turned it a few times, then it was fine.

No telling what everyone's grumpy about, but there's a lot of it going around. I was really sad to see Jamesp quit the forum a couple months back. He had always been very generous and helpful with me. Maybe we should all tune out the cable news and Twitter for a month or two. Go for a drive or plan a trip for when your car comes out of storage.

spare ignition key
To the OP, read this thread and if you are a sharp as you think this should get u up and running. This assumes that one of the two keys you have has a valid pill.

Best advice ever... I guess I don't need a new ignition switch this time! I just don't have frunk/trunk access anymore.

Hey guys, as stated below, with a little work and advice, the valet key has started worked fine. I just don't have a fob anymore, and the guy broke my door handle as well (the window goes down under the top like any other time you open the door, but door doesn't physically unlatch. I assume there's some small spring or mechanism that was broken from yanking on it in the cold, but I haven't researched this one at all.
So, I currently have to roll the window halfway down to open the door from the inside after manually unlocking, and I have no trunk/frunk access.
The one thing I would like to communicate is that I truly appreciate the help. That said, I do search this forum, and others, for hours on end before asking questions, and I have decades of experience working on all varieties of vehicles, and have always specialized in performance applications. I do not come here to ask novice questions. I have experience building cars from the ground up, building entire wiring harnesses myself, reprogramming stock ECUs, Motec, etc.
I don't want anyone to be bent out of shape over a snide reaction on my part, this situation has put me on edge and I was finally able to press charges this week.

With manual release, not electric switch, frunk/trunk handles (which 2000 has as I recall) you can easily get to via interior if you so need. Detail instructions in archives.

Yeah. I've gotten it to work once but I genuinely have never been able to see the "white" thing always mentioned and I wasn't able to repeat the process
I already made my frunk cable accessable but the levers have had me stumped for a bit to be honest. It's like one of those jobs that should take 4 hours by the book and you're on track to get it done in 1.5 but one nut/bolt is turning it into a 6-hour affair.
I'm gonna try again tonight. Porsche dealer quoted me almost 3k to rekey and reprogram so I guess this asshat can decide if he wants a felony or to give my keys back
