I can tell you I have a set of Carerra 2 rims and they are 10" rear, 8.5" front, and the rears would not fit without a half inch spacers and longer studs due to the backset being wrong for an early 986 and didn't do that as there are better options out there with correct offset and back spacing, , like early cayman wheels - and I am sad that I cant use them as they are mint and would look great, 18" wheels, but would just stick out too far and I think look too "ricer" IMHO.
and they are $4,500 for a set new today, I have them for sale but anyway I think the widest you can really go is 9" rear with out a spacer or longer studs. Back set spacing is the key.
