Familiarity helps one stick with what they've got.

I'm in the same boat. My car is a 2000S that I've owned almost 10 years. Its friggin great! I get the itch for a newer version (987 and 991 both appeal). When I've driven a newer car, last being a 2010 base, I enjoyed the newer car but it didn't feel twice as good as my current car even though the price twice as much.

The problem with contentment is never changing. I have a 1984 Alfa Spider that isn't half the car that my Boxster is but I can't seem to part with it.

My 2002 4Runner isn't nearly as fuel efficient or comfortable as our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport but I can't seem to part with the 4Runner.

I see a pattern. Maybe age related but I don't swoon for every new thing that comes out like I used to.
