Yes, I had the entire door latch assembly replaced.

I had the same problem. I replaced the door latch mechanism on my 97 Boxster (very expensive as only a '97 will fit). It did not cure the problem. When I pull on either the inside or outside handle and open the door the interior lights go on but when I let go of either handle the window pops back up. I know the micro switches are working on both handles and the latch switch is working because the interior lights come on. I have also replaced the window regulator. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Just curious....the OP never mentioned what the reason to bring the car to the shop in the first place was.....could they have "touched" something in the repair that caused this issue? Did they do any electrical work? etc etc etc

It was just a routine oil change.
