Fan on at start up

Whenever I start the car the heater/ac fan always starts on low. I then shut if off if I'm not going to use it.

Is there a method to employ that would ensure when the engine is started the fan remains off until otherwise I turn it on?

Thank you.

Is the fan in the engine compartment or in the nose?

If the engine compartment it could be the SAI pump which is an electric fan......as Gelbster said ...... this motor/fan will run for 90 seconds or so on startup.

Try dialing the temperature down until off is displayed.

I'm glad you made that recommendation (sarcasm). That's what I do now. I click it down once, it's off. Is that normal upon startup? Is there a tip/trick/hack so that whenever I start the car the fan (heater/AC), blower, whatever, remains off until I make it otherwise?

Thank you.

I don't think that there is a simple way to do it. It was designed for automatic convenience whether you like it or not. It is similar to the units in some VW and Audi in the year range and I read that some have had success by getting into the programming with VAGCOM and changing the country settings. Perhaps with a Boxster it can be accomplished with a Durmetric, but I doubt it. My guess is that it will need a switch or relay added to the harness.

My Boxster, ‘03, doesn’t do this. If fan is OFF when I shut down, it is OFF when I start.

Starter986, I believe that older models did this and had to be shut off over and over on start-up. They turn off and stay off I believe 2002 and newer but as other have posted definitely 2003 and newer. This had been asked before you may try a search to see what the consensus was that time.
