Frunk directions

I’m sure everyone here is familiar enough with their cars.

But id say around 5% of 986 and 996s I see out and about and in parking lots have their frunks shut but not latched?

Why do people seemingly often not realize the frunk must be latched? Isn’t this a massive hazard?

Yeah it is kinda weird. I've notice at the dd one like that as well. Considering that the dash light will be in their faces you gotta wonder.

I've done it. Guilty.

Not all cars have the dash indicators. My car has the cables that release both trunks, not the solenoids so no indication on dash.

On the early cars with no warning light, its really easy to forget to latch it all the way - I have been guilty of this myself. Its not a huge hazard as the primary latch typically engages simply by the weight of the hood which will keep it from flying up.

Back in the day, I had a Ford panel van and I forgot to latch the small hood and it came up, broke the metal hinges, cracked the windshield, and flew off over the top of the van as soon as I got up to about 50 mph. Luckily, no one was behind me.

Guilty (sort of). When garaged, I always leave the frunk ajar (light removed, of course)....I hate trying to open the frunk with a dead battery. Even with a new battery, I still leave it ajar.

I'll admit that most of the time I forget to fully latch, and usually remember before I leave my drive, but I have had to jump out at the stop sign to close. You'd think that by now I would know the procedure.. Start car, close frunk, but nope. Call it age I guess.

I have done this twice, because with other vehicles, one good drop of the hood normally latches as well, but with the Boxster I have to push down on the hood. Early car so I do not have light as well, oddly enough, I don't really use the drunk, mainly open for headlight related issues.
