The rep around the IMS is common knowledge. I wouldn't touch one with out an LN IMS or the full cost factored in. Lost a 2000 S a decade ago with IMS failure at 33k. Never imagined I would own one again. Rode in one a few months ago. Irresistible. Bought a 2000 base car a few weeks later, cheap. Went straight to the shop for a clutch and IMS. Great car.

I sense some sarcasm so I'll give you the simple math: bought car for 3k because top would not work and the lady didn't want to deal with it, came with hardtop and extra set of wheels, sold hardtop and wheels for $1500, tires off those wheels for another couple hundred so including the $60 I spent on fixing the arm that was broken on the top I end up with the car for less than $1500. 2 years and no repairs on I now invested another $400 on brand new tires that came on Cayman wheels so kind of nearing the $2k mark into it unless I sell the perfect twists with great tires that are on the car to recoup some of it.

For all the talk about the IMS, 85% of even the worst version of the IMS are still original and causing no trouble. There are other parts for other cars that fail more frequently, my family just had two Toyota failures in the last 2 weeks. Both serious failure to start in awkward places on each car. Would I damn Toyotas because of that? Heck no. Both were, in a certain sense, anticipatable and avoidable with proactive replacement of a part known to fail at certain intervals. (Now tell me with all the fancy electronics and sensors we know have in our cars why battery low voltage isn't something that you can be warned about 90% of the time. I have 25 other warning lights.)

Your money, your choice, every car has certain week points. A Boxster has enormous strong points.

I will be shocked if someone doesn't come in and snipe this Boxster at the end of the auction. $10,500 for that car is a steal. With any luck a couple bidders will come in at the end and bid it up for you. GLWS!!

I had it in my watch list and was giving it consideration but I really don't need another car sitting around not getting used as it should. I agree that it should of sold at that price, maybe there is more to the story? Hopefully there is a potential buyer corresponding with the seller as a result of the auction and they work out a deal, that is how I bought my Boxster way back when.

Zero bids? I'm surprised. Maybe the market for convertibles really does go soft in the Fall. Also, I still think that the low quality photos don't present the car at its best.
