1997 ims issue

Does the 1997 boxster with tiptronic trans have the ims and rms issueslike the stick shift trans

Yes. According to Porsche, you are in the 1% failure class as opposed to almost 10 times worse for some 2000 to 2004.

The transmission type (manual vs automatic) does not, in itself, make any difference in regards to IMS concerns.

There are some anecdotal statements that a manual might be better for IMS longevity because the driver typically can maintain higher rev's which might provide better IMS lubrication in some situations, but I've never seen any actual data to back this up.

Screw IMS man.... just the little cheap PCB you are sitting onto is worth more than a used 2.5L engine all together (Part + re-prog). Do I f n care about the IMS you ask...

Find this immobilizer a sealed container and pack it with moisture repellent. 100X more urgent than changing your perfectly fine IMS. They are getting old... try to extend its life a few more miles if you can LOL

The Nine8Six (the car) is dead, can't start
