I also wash my engines. Always use simple green or any of the citrus based cleaners, a nylon brush and a rag. Never pressure wash as I don't let them build up to the point of needing that and just don't want to get water into something that it doesn't need to get into.
One thing that I hate is when people use armor all or any of the other shiny treatments afterward. All they do is give a sticky surface for dust and grime to accumulate. They make the car look like it was on a used car lot IMHO.

I used aerospace protectant, it seems to have repelled most of the dust for the last two years.

I would try it if you say it held dust off for 2 years. Do you have a picture of the bottle or a link to it?

303 is very good stuff, i have used it for years mostly on interior plastic/vinyl.
I washed the engine bay and it came out pretty good, mid engine doesn't really let you clean it too well. On a side note after I washed it I fired up the engine and it was running like shi_t. Misfires and stumbling idle, I have new plugs but coils were original. ended up replacing coils and found every coil with very fine hairline cracks probably causing arching and the ****************ty running engine. I replaced all of them and car ran perfect after, by the way I didnt drive it when I noticed it misfiring.
