Not enough spare time to enjoy Porsche ownership...

I bought mine 5 years ago when I was self employed and had lots of time to feed my hobbies.

These days I work 8 + per day, 30 min commute each way, and need my truck all day long. This translates into driving my car 4 times last year.

So, there's this $15k+ pile of cash sitting in my shop collecting dust. Since I never drive it, it doesn't need any work, lol. Now add on insurance and reg and floor space.

Work 10+ hours a day, 1.5 hrs drive each way. Take the car to work some days, and take it to cars and coffee on weekends. You have to make time to drive it!

Go for drives at night, or what about the weekends?..........Sounds like you are just tired of it and want to sell it. That happens.........I rode motorcycles for over 30 years and had a beautiful Harley touring bike, but one day out of no where I just lost my desire to ride and sold my bike. That was 4 years ago and I really don't miss riding at all.......

My typical work day is 11 hours and I always find time. I occasionally take it to work and I frequently go for a drive in the evening and the weekends. Sounds like you may have lost interest which happens. If the money does more for you then the car then sell it. Just remember that once it's sold you aren't getting it back. I regret to this day selling my 964. At the time it made sense because I needed a car with real back seats and the car I got to replace it while fun at first with twice the horsepower I quickly lost interest. Now if I want my 964 back or one of similar quality it will cost me $50k.

Work 10 -12 hours a day Monday to Friday
President of our pca region
Wife 3 step daughters and my now one year old daughter.

Still find time to drive and enjoy the car. Some times the wife gets mad and this I like the car more than her though

Driving Porsches has become a little bit of an obsession for me though.

Looks like my daughter caught the bug too

Yep - Another Hair dresser in a Boxster
Just keep on perpetuating the stereo
type
Mine just sits weeks at a time. Problem is any decent driving takes 45 mins of boring roads to get to.

I used to feel that way too. 10-12 hr workdays. Seems like you don't have enough time for them but for me knowing they were within my reach was more than enough to keep them. I always found time on the weekends even if it's just an hour drive one at a time when I had the time. Unless you're really good at investing 15k in the savings won't get you much more than keeping the car. Keep it unless you're in need of the cash. I for one likes to peek in my garage just to smile knowing they are waiting for me.

Thanks.
It was my dream car. Had one since 1993 and this one since 2002. It's one that I hope to keep and pass on to my grand kids one day.

Sounds like a good plan. I remember mine didn't have that much power, but it sure handled well, got some nice looks, and was fun to drive (hey, that sounds a lot like my Boxster!)

Mine's my daily driver for a fairly short commute. I like to find the time to enjoy some local twisty roads, but even on the way to work and back, the car makes me smile. There is something about the balance and mid-engine layout that makes even slow driving wonderful!

Its so sad to read about people who have their priorities screwed up. :-)

The saddest of all is hearing about people who slave themselves through a long working life in order to enjoy retirement and then keel over from a heart attach two weeks after they retire. Think about it. You never know what tomorrow brings, so live as if today is your last day alive. Seriously!

I bought my 2004 SE as a daily driver. Now I can't wait to leave for work and leave work for home.

I can't believe I have been missing out on this wonderful car for so many years. It's been 40 years since my last sports car. I am enjoying the hell out of this ride!!!

I have a 2014 Cadillac that is just sitting in the driveway collecting dust. The Box has claimed it space in the garage!

Find the time and drive the box. Don't get rid of it!!!

Sell it and let someone else enjoy it for a while.

You can always buy another in 15 years for $20K and then fix it up like you had this one.

Sometimes lusting after something it more exciting than having it for too long and taking it for granted. Porsche's need loving or they stop working and die.

Does the car make you happy when you drive it? Then keep it. Make time to drive it if need be - trust me, I understand the time constraints when you always have things to finish. House maintenance, yard maintenance, other car maintenance... adds up fast.

Since mine has been pulled from daily duty (again), it mostly sleeps in the garage. The 911 does that even more, but I have that in the middle of refurbishment.
