The Grand Tour / Drive Tribe - aka the new(old?) Top Gear)

Anyone here watching the 'Grand Tour' on Amazon? It's the old Top Gear guys with a new show. First episode was pretty good, they finally did the holy trinity matchup with the Porsche 918, McLaren P1 and the LaFerrari. The second episode was awful IMO.

I'm hoping they do more actual 'Grand Touring' in future episodes.

They've also started something called 'Drive Tribe' -- a car enthusiast website. Not sure exactly what it is, but appears to be a bit like Instagram for car groups.

Anyway, I've created a 986 Tribe. If you're interested below is the link. It won't go live until five people join.

Here's link to the Grand Tour trailer - you need Amazon Prime to watch the full shows.

Saw the first episode and it was okay. The dead body thing was lame. So was the contrived fight with the USA audience. Haven't watched the second yet. I want it to work but, my gut tells me it's over.

I thought it was well done and enjoyed the car reviews. Yes, Epie 2 was rather lame. I hope they will learn to stay more car focused. Not sure how many of the 12 2016 epie’s have been shoot. Most of the TV I watch is British and sometimes the humor is not well understood by Americans or much of the population around the world. Time will tell.

I have watched the first two episodes. I thought it still had what made Top Gear so great, but a lot of the jokes where very hit or miss in my opinion.
It normally takes new shows a season to find their "groove" so I am hoping it will get better over time.

Boys are still finding their groove....maybe trying a bit too hard due to those huge dollars involved. I'm sure it will come around - old Top Gear was amazing, this one will get there.

I'll check out your DriveTribe now.

I really liked the first episode - lots of great cars and some good laughs. I like that they didn't take themselves too seriously (at least not on camera).

I tried to join the Tribe but gave up when it asked me to join 6 tribes and the selection was a long list of pixelated images. I couldn't tell what the heck I was joining so I exited.

Yeah, a signup is required and then you have to go through the motions of a few steps, but it didn't take me too long.

It's still in it's infancy, but what I've seen so far is promising. The official Porsche Tribe features Mark Webber (he's already been posting and commenting), and all of the other major players (Road&Track, Petrolicious, etc) have a presence as well.

Hopefully it's a place for gear-head related pictures, movies, and content without having to deal with the drama of Facebook and other similar sites.

I've been poking around on Tribe and found some interesting content. So far it's been worthwhile.

Signed up for the tribe site with my wife's FB account (this old dude doesn't do FB), and joined the 6 required tribes - but was unable to find the 986 tribe by searching? I read something about tribes need a certain number of hits or bumps or joins before they are public so perhaps that is why? Very little in the way of online help available?

Figured it out. Searched for Tom D's name and joined the 986 tribe under my wife's FB. Looks like this tribe is now searchable. Lots of cool content on the tribes I joined. I like it!

Okay episode 2 and 3 where much better. I am now hopeful. The budget for each episode must have been enormous.
