Porsche makes a cupholder module for the center console, if you can find one inexpensively. They still suck, but it's better than nothing.

MY 2000 boxsters have plastic rear windows and thus no defroster. The switch is there for the defroster in the hardtop.

The install for the rear speakers is fairly straightforward. If you already have the storage bins for the shelf directly behind your head (under the rollbar), then you're in luck. There's a company doing business on Ebay that sells speaker kits with upgraded speakers. IIRC it's about $250.

No opinion on battery-operated detectors. I use a Passport 8500 and love it.
