General racing question..

Do all race tracks race counter clock wise, or turn left?

Nope. Some may be 1 direction only , but many can be run either way
An oval track will have all turns the same way, but a road course will have both left and right turns

For example

or
Track Info- Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

my local course is clockwise. as such there are more rights on it than lefts, so i see more driver side tire heating, wheel bearing wear, suspension deflection , etc. some guys tune their suspension for this, but not me - not fast enough to have those 1/100 secs matter yet.

I believe that road courses typically run clockwise with more right turns than left, examples road Atlanta, Sebring, RRR, that is my limited experience

Generally they do run clockwise, but often there is an option to run counter-clockwise as well

Watkins Glen, VIR, Summit Point, NJMS, Lime Rock all run clockwise. Pocono normally runs CCW. I've run Pocono both ways. The north Coarse CW the IMSA coarse CCW and CW.

I think Interlagos in Brazil or Suzuka in Japan run both clockwise and counterclockwise. No wait..Interlagos runs cc unlike most F1 circuits and Suzuka runs in both directions.

I heard that all of the courses in the Southern Hemisphere have to run backward or the toilets won't flush properly. Some kind of earth vortex coriolis magma wormhole phenomena or something.

So, within a NASCAR season, they will race each way? I'd suppose some do better in a particular direction?

Yes, some tracks are CW and some CCW. Car setup is very track specific but I don't know any drivers who really favor one direction over the other.

Laguna Seca & COTA are CCW, so they're not helping the Northern Hemisphere vortex thstone refers to.

My local track is CW.

Circle/oval tracks like the ones used by NASCAR are usually only run in a single direction (usually counter-clockwise or left).

Road courses can be single direction or dual direction depending on the specific track.

Some tracks are just unsafe to run in the opposite to normal direction due to runoff, barriers, etc. Mosport is one of these.

Most of the proper race tracks, i.e. Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, Monaco, Monza, Nurburgring Nordschleife built in The Old World run clockwise.

Interestingly enough, the first purpose built concrete race track in the world at Brooklands in 1909 was Anti clockwise (counter clockwise to our American cousins).

So is it just me or does Bristol seem like almost a circle?? Watching practice now.

Looks like a very short track.
