+1 on AGM batteries. This is the one I put in my 2003 Boxster 3 years ago and it's great, and yes, it's a direct replacement and fits perfectly. I just disconnect the negative terminal and I can leave it for months without a trickle charger, and it doesn't discharge much at all. I left it for 1 month in December when it was -20° F for several nights in a row, and without a trickle charger it still had 12.8 V when I got home. Of course, be sure not to latch the hood (I remove the catch, two 10 mm head bolts, so it can't latch).

When Jake and I first started talking about engine builds he was very up front that the engine would make great power but would be very drivable. This car is not my daily driver however I want it to be civil enough to be so if need be. I did not want to sacrifice daily driving comfort for peak horsepower just for bragging rights. To be honest I am just as curious to see the dyno figures as anyone else but I'm more curious to see the torque figures and at what rpm's . My butt dyno tells me the torque curve will have a nice linear curve because it is very strong from idle right up to 7000 rpm's that's as high as I have spun her being new. I'm also not planning on spinning her much past 7k anyway there just is no reason to do so. When I say she's a beast that is not to imply hard to drive or finicky she's a beast because of the power curve idle on up. Plus that exhaust sound ! In regards to Jakes comment about mpg's I don't see how I'll be able to keep my foot out of it

You are experiencing the all around higher average HP and Torque that I spoke about earlier in this thread.

To gain this takes more than bolting parts on, we have to machine them into submission, and set things up in a particular fashion. I can easily dial the lobe separation of those cams in differently, and radically effect the power band and torque curve without changing the first part.

Thats the difference between something thats truly developed, and "built", rather than something thats just bolted together.

I prefer "built" over "bought" any day.

I found a agm battery locally. Advance auto in house h7 agm with 1000 ca and 850 cca. They have an order online 15 % off discount with store pickup. After core refund out the door price 183.99 . I will pick it up tomorrow. Should be enough power to crank up the beast.

Oh well I have purchased the battery and will pick it up today. I had a online chat with a Advance Auto rep and asked who makes their batteries. Was told they are made by GNB or Johnson Controls. I can't friggen believe it since I have picked up the beast it has rained every day and last night it snowed !!! Tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny and near 50 so some miles will be added to the beast.

911monty i am working on it. I just picked up the battery and installed it in the car. I have my maintainer on it right now . Got lucky the build date of the battery was december 2015. It is way too cold and icey out to do anything today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I hope to get a video and audio clip tomorrow.

Yeah my street bike riding started with a Yamaha DS7 which was a 250cc two stroke twin. Eventually moved up to a RD400 and that was quite a leap forward in power and speed. That 400 was very quick and if memory serves me correctly a 6 speed transmission. I remember one time tooling along at 100 mph when out of the blue the chain snapped..........and got wrapped around the rear sprocket and swingarm ! Rear wheel went from turning to NOT TURNING in an instant ! How it didn't throw me off is a mystery but I remember smelling burning rubber as I skidded a loooooong way to a stop. Rear tire had a flat spot that almost went bead to bead I was very lucky. But I was young and stupid and got back on her once it was fixed. And as luck would have it Jake currently has either a RD350 or 400 completely rebuilt for sale............I am fighting the urge big time

That's amazing.... I had an RD400 Daytona. Awesome bike at that time.

Not endorsing Advance as I tend to spread my buying around, but if you look at Slickdeals.net and search on Advance Auto Parts coupons or codes they are usually posted.

I have a boosted version of this, with all the internals developed. This includes valve train, valves, and camshafts.

BUT... The price tag that it has costs more than 5 Boxsters.

Guys I am still here and haven't driven the beast since parking it in my garage from when I picked her up . The weather has been crap, we had the grandchildren all last weekend so car playing was off the table Oh and there is this thing called work that tends to get in the way ! But I am off from work today and the weather is playing nice so first thing is to get her warmed up and on the lift so I can drain the break in oil. After that I plan on getting some miles on her. I will do my best to get some video/audio and post on here. I have never posted a video from my phone so I have to figure that out. I guess upload to Utube ?
