FOR PARTS A CLEAN 2001 PORSCHE BOXSTER S 3.2 STANDARD 99K MILES

Do you think that was enough of a hit to discharge the passenger door airbag? I'm looking for one of that vintage and can't tell from the pics if it's good or not. ;)

Sure hope there wasn't a passenger along for the ride. That thing had to be going pretty fast sideways before it wrapped around a tree / pole.

That was my first question: What parts??

Passenger side sun visor, windshield wipers, windshield, windshield trim, maybe some electrical items from the dash, brake calipers, wheels, handbrake handle?

I hope there wasn't a driver or a passenger in that car when it got hit!

2002 Boxster S tiptronic

Here is a 2002 Boxster S tiptronic with 83k miles for $5,000, in Suffern, NY - maybe worth a look?

Not mine, no relation to seller, etc.

I recognize the scams for bicycles and things like real exotic or newer cars better, but this one almost seemed reasonable!

husker boxster 01-09-2016 08:38 AM

I'm sure the cold start issue has nothing to do with the "dinged up a bit" front. Maybe the battery is getting weak.

Someone needs to get that man a dictionary!

Burg Boxster 01-09-2016 12:20 PM

LOL - based on tree limb across cowel, me suspects that was scene of "ding-ing up a bit". :D

husker boxster 01-09-2016 02:47 PM

To be honest, it is cold today - single digits & 25mph wind producing -25 deg wind chill.

2000 Porche Boxter!
I was just about to post this yesterday. Before I clicked 'post', I decided to check it out.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1454552348.jpg

Long story short: It probably wasn't worth the $4,500, so I got it for a bit less.
- 90% certain the oil leak is AOS
- Steering rack leak
- Cheap knock off wheels
- Burnt headlights
- Body & paint 3/10 (Hood impact to windshield damage and bad paint job)
- Interior 5/10
- Starter squeal

Its going to be a spring project. Maybe do a Woody style buildŽ, or maybe just clean it up.

Always love hearing about cheap finds because of a bad AOS. I got one at an auction that was a dealer trying to pass off what they thought was a car with a bad engine. I don't feel too sorry for people who think their boxster is shot because of a bad AOS. Five minute google search will tell you what's wrong.

Retroman1969 02-04-2016 04:00 AM

Congrats! That's a great little snag for less than $4500! Hopefully it will be easy to put back in shape. :)

Not quite a Boxster, but still looks like it might be a fun ride.

71 Roadrunner

"All numbers match VIN from cowl to radiator support."
Next sentence:
"This is a rolling chassis vehicle. No motor."
No interior, wrong hood.
"True, straight survivor."

At least he has all the buzz words included. Too bad he doesn't know what they mean.

Better read this one quick before it gets taken down. Be sure to look at all of the pics.

Looking at the pics - especially the rear quarter one taken @ the Hilton Hotel - I'll think I'll pass.
I bet the car can tell a few tales....

husker boxster 02-14-2016 12:40 PM

Yeah, makes me want to disinfect the leather seats.

Well, the ad is gone now. I wonder if it sold? We better not see that car running around KC with custom HIDs

I have seen that car a couple of times at the shop when my Box was in for service. Beautifully done! Probably not a bad price considering the amount of work put into it.

She had her car priced about 2X what it was worth, so she must have been proud of her 3day weekend offer. She obviously didn't complete her mktg deg since her last "Hilton Hotel" pic was horrifying.

Thought Particlewave would be all over that since he lives in the neighborhood. ;)

An 8 cylinder FWD Porsche 911 for that kind of money - a rare beast indeed.:
I still wouldn't touch it with an 8' barge pole!

husker boxster 02-25-2016 02:44 AM

Surprised they didn't say they were moving to England and the steering wheel would be on the wrong side. Would add to the authenticity of the ad.

I'm more surprised it hasn't been flagged yet.

REDUCED 2000 Toyota MR2 spyder TRD edition convertibleVERY RARE $5000

Very rare, Toyota MR2 with 24 Porsche badges on it. The ad helpfully clarifies that it is not a Porsche, otherwise folks might get fooled.

@steved0x

My god. The door panel badges are the most hilarious. I quite like mr2s they're really good TOYOTAS.

Hahaha that provided a good laugh.

mipstien 03-29-2016 07:23 AM

Why would anyone do this to a car? Why put fake emblems on a different model/brand unless its a kit which has reason.

This thing is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Oh wait, there is that one a few posts previous, and that one from a few weeks ago, and . . . . never mind. It does rate in the top 10 stupidest things I've ever seen however. I imagine if he did have a Porsche we would see Ferrari badges on it.

steved0x 03-29-2016 09:28 AM

It is a tie with that bodykit monstrosity from the previous post.

If that MR2 really has a TRD body kit, suspension, etc... it is already pretty special. Why ruin it with Porsche badges...

Run 03-29-2016 08:02 PM

I love the matching Porsche key chain I wonder if I should make an offer on only that its likely a Chinese knockoff

ChrisZang 03-29-2016 08:27 PM

The fact that he throws in two cans of quality red paint clearly seals the deal for me. Is there any possible place on the car left where he could have put another Porsche badge?

That is literally the poorest taste I have ever seen demonstrated, and that's quite an accomplishment.

On the badge monster.... Don't MR2s have a huge fan base? It's like rebadging a Miata, or a Jeep Wrangler. Pretty sure tons of people love and admire it already. Anyway, I'd be embarrassed to have that many Porsche emblems on a Porsche, much less on another vehicle entirely.

Wow. A salvage titled Frankenstein with a bazillion miles on it. And cheap too.
I'd bet the first quarter mile is fun though.
