I challenge anyone to decipher this listing:

https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/1965-slammed-bug-beetle/6701126107.html

Even so, I think I'll probably pass on this one.

Just sayin'.............

That’s a Volks rod project.
Not for purists, but I like ‘em.

Wasn't today but about 2 weeks ago I picked up a full set of Carrera III wheels with older winter tires for $600. Thought it was too good to be true but they turned out to be legit. Fits beautifully with a 15mm spacer in the rear and a 1.5" drop all around. Might get a set of 5mm spacers in the front.

On a side note if anyone wants to buy a set of stock boxster wheels in the PNW let me know..

I found this in Santa Cruz on CL. 2003 S in Meridian Metallic with Metropol Blue top and interior. Nicely optioned car in excellent condition. Under 103K on the odo.
Owner said it started making funny noise and lost power coming off frwy. Shut it down immediately. Diagnostics showed no metal in oil. No oil/coolant mix and low/no compression in #5. Fingers crossed it is a busted valve spring or at worst, something else in the top end.
Owner had LN IMS done along w/$5K in misc work within 5k miles.

I paid him $2500 for the car.

$100K 97 Boxster???

A signature doesn't make this worth $100K to me. Am I wrong?

That's just stupid. It's an everyday '97, even if it tells the time in Gstaad "in Chicago, $50 bucks"!

It's $10K... did the seller correct the price or does someone need glasses?

He's asking $10K, not $100K. Still high but oh well.

At least it has a somewhat rare factory riveted wood/ leather steering wheel, $1,500 option back then. Not as cool as mine in red, though!

Don't know how you could lose on that deal. Heck, even with a motor R/R you'd be in for less than the car is worth. Great deal and hope for the best!

A guy an 1.5 hrs from me was advertising his Boxster on CL and the ad said it had a hardtop he would include. I emailed him and asked if would be interested in selling just the hardtop and if so, how much?

He replied $250.

I figure it was probably a unicorn but worth the drive to find out.

I passed on one in Boulder earlier in the week for $850 plus shipping to my door would have been $1150. Would still have to have it painted to match my car, too.

With this one even though I will have it sprayed, I think I am way ahead....

$250 is fantastic, congrats on a good score! Is it black? Is your car the Meridian Metallic in the post above? If the hardtop is black, it may look great on your car without repainting it. Hoping you can fix the Meridian Metallic car for not too much money!

Yes..it's black. It wont look bad as most 986's have a black contrasting convertible top so it would have that sort of look. However, the clam shell has some clear coat fail happening and I plan on having that addressed as soon as I get the car driving again. I figure since the paint guy will have his gun all loaded up with the Meridian Silver, he might as well shoot the top too.

I was interested in this low mileage car. If I could source a engine for a reasonable price it might be an interesting project. The price is high considering Boxster rollers go for 5,000.

Why is it a salvage title? A blown motor due to IMS would not cause it to be totaled by the insurer. Think there's more than being let on. The front bumper looks a bit wonky.
