A little more info which might help

I found this thread when I went looking for a means to open my front hood on my boxster which had a dead battery. I used YouTube to watch and searched forums . I found the pull out red toggle easy enough out of the fuse panel.

I first tried to use my Battery Tender Jr. to try and release the front but it did not work.

I then went and got my regular battery charger ( plug in ) as I do not have a portable jump start and with the Porsche in the garage there was no way to get another vehicle close.

Starting with the battery charger I began with 2 amps and it did not work.

Skeptical I then went to 10 amps and it still did not work....

After reading more into the post someone indicated amperage so I then went back and put the charger on 50 amps. I was kinda worried at the fuse box but tried it nonetheless. It worked.

I just wanted to post this so that others working on the same in my fashion would know it was ok to run your battery charger at 50 amps to get it to pop the front.

Thanks

If you're looking for an easy project, remove the front bumper cover and clean your radiators. While you're there, re-route the emergency hood latch cable to sit behind the tow hook hole.
