when Porsche went to the cayman they removed the dam andadded the spoiler lip. the 987 boxster keeps a spoiler similar to the 986. uncertain if the fastback has different airflow characteristics than the roadster, or if the fastback had different aesthetic requirements than the roadster. probably a bit of both.

you can buy the ebay product to convert the 986 to cayman style, or actually use a cayman rear spoiler (required modification of the rear bumper cover as per cheetah). fluid987 make some really nice exaggerated cayman style spoilers, but none that work for the 986:

otherwise, if you want to retain the 986 style spoiler but add a lip to the top of it, there was a product out (by I think a Swedish company) that did something like that but can't find a pic anywhere anymore so most likely no longer available.

edit!!! found it:

That Reiger wing looks like the Gemballa wing

Gemballa USA

Not sure that's sold anymore, either.

That Reiger wing looks pretty cool to me. It looks like the base of it must fill up any gap between the wing and the trunk lid pretty well.

Does anyone have a current link for this? or has this site gone obsolete?

That's a sensible and good looking spoiler. It still works as an air dam and enhances the lines without looking obtrusive. It also looks like it would be an easy install.
Can't get the site link to work in "shop" mode though.

Nine8Six, Are you still thinking of doing a spoiler project? Have any connections for creating a replica of something similar to this? I've been trying to find something that adds a subtle lip when retracted, but still deploys...

this one allows you to buy the rieger unit (for $1000!!!) but, unless they have an old one sitting around, i bet they'll tell you no longer in stock. there's a seller - 911ava - on ebay that has some leftover gemballa parts and may have an old rear spoiler too.

otherwise, I think particle and nine8six should get us a fluid987/porschemesh style rear spoiler for our cars. simple and adds a lot - very whale/ducktail-ish. if you want to get more complicated, the 996tt or 981 style might be fun. OR, maclaren style - changes orientation based on speed/braking.
