Sometimes after sitting for a while my car puffs a bit of blue smoke when I start it. What could be wrong? Do I need a new engine?

Also, my check engine light is flashing. Is this because of the blue smoke? Is it ok to drive the car until I can get it looked at?

If the CEL is flashing, i would be wary of even running the engine, let alone driving it, it could indicate something catastrophic! Use a diagnostic tool like durametric if possible to pull the codes and post here for advice, or have the car towed to the closest shop to be looked at by a professional. Good luck!

I had my Porsche out for a nice drive yesterday, runnin sweet as you please. Then I heard this awful metallicy sound and the engine died. I tried restarting it and it won't fire - just that horrible sound. Must have tried it 20 times - nothing.

Think I should try it again after letting it sit overnight?

So I was going down the road and my ims, aos, and water pump all went out at once, I didn't want a tow though so I eased it home. Do you think this hurt the engine?

What's are codes? Do you think my truck would be able to pull them or are they really big? I've got 4WD if that helps. Where do I pull them to?

The jacking points are just under the front & rear bumper with a farm jack, eh?

No, you screw the tow hook into the front bumper to use as a jacking point. In the rear you just stick the tongue of the jack in the exhaust pipe and lift it that way.

Take off....

I knew the bumpers were rubber so I used the tops of the wheel wells. Not a good spot to jack from. :/

Do I have to buy specialty muffler bearing grease from a Porsche dealership, or can I use the generic stuff that they sell at Pep Boys?
I'm only asking because I've been using generic headlight fluid for a couple of years with no ill effects and want to save a couple of bucks to buy a left-handed steel stretcher at HF this month...

Be careful with those HF steel stretchers. I heard that they bought a bunch of expired ones from a UK distributor and converted them to left hand drive, by re-drilling and bolting the handle on backwards.

Has anyone ever had their instrument cluster back lights go out? I've checked the fuses and all are good. Is there a relay the lights are fed through? My next step is to remove the dash. Oh and BTW, I did try the manual intensity switch...I'm baffled.
